Things that make me realise posted at 9:14 AM

Today, as a student of Hwa Chong, I got to witness the "outvestiture" of the 39th Student Council and the investiture of the 40th Student Council. You've got to admit, it's a little exclusive, but the Student Council, is after all serving the school, so I guess this bit of recognition is what they deserve.

And the whole 2 and a half hour programme made me leave the hall, confused and all emotional. I wasn't even the one being invested/stepping down. What the hell was I so emotional for?

Firstly, I guess you can say that the whole stepping down thing has made me realise that my CCA seniors are going to step down real soon too. It's kinda sad that I didn't manage to talk more or interact more with the seniors. Isn't it funny how we only regret after things have happened?

Secondly, I guess I understand how they feel.

Serving the school is their passion. It's part of the reason why they love Hwa Chong so much. Maybe for some of them, being in council was probably the most enriching, entertaining, fun thing they could have ever done in Junior College. And when you step down, and hand over the duties to your juniors, you no longer have that huge a responsibility on your shoulders, and suddenly, you feel like you've lost a purpose in life.

And when one loses a purpose in life, that emptiness one feels is not enjoyable at all. Many things - after doing OM especially, after being busy for months and suddenly, you're left with nothing to do. That feeling of being momentarily lost. Terrible.

So I realised that maybe I should treasure all projects I'll handle and cherish that period of time where you hold some form of responsibility that'll make you feel more accomplished in life.

Thirdly, I realised how time passes so quickly.

Hey guys, guess what. It's May. Wait.

May's ending soon.

1/4 of our JC life is coming to an end. And I can only say this sentence with guilt and regret, because I know I have not spent this 3 months to its best.

Our senior Faculty Heads have stepped down and our new Faculty Heads have taken over the duty to maintain Apollo's pride as the God of the Sun.

Our Interact seniors are going to step down, and soon, it's going to be our turn to continue serving with passion as official Interactors.

How fast will the remaining of 2 years pass? I really don't want to know.

And you know what, before we know it, the countdown stops at 0.
