Jacket posted at 9:23 AM
I had slept at 2:00AM the previous night, trying to complete the
very last tutorial of Permutations and Combinations. Guess when seniors said
P&C wasn't going to be easy, they really meant it. Propping my head up with
the support of my elbow, it didn't take long before I wandered off to dream
land.
Something
tugged on my shoulder. Unwilling to part with my beauty sleep, I whined a
little and pushed the hand which was disturbing me constantly away. This time,
he shook me harder. I didn't even need to think to know who the annoying person
was.
"The bell hasn't rung..."
"It's
Math next lesson." He whispered in my ear.
I
lifted my head up immediately. Dear math tutor wasn't someone we should mess
with.
Detaching
myself from the comfortable chair grudgingly, we headed out of the air-conditioned
classroom after he passed me my bag. There
was an awkward silence between both of us as fatigue continued to take over me like
a parasite.
“You
okay? You seem a little out of place,” he asked out of concern. I merely nodded
my head and stifled a yawn.
From
the corner of my eye, I took a side glance at him. He was at least one and a
half heads taller than I was, yet instead of feeling intimidated, I felt a
sense of protection overwhelm me. With him, anything seemed possible, even if
it was to complete the P&C math tutorial.
We
neared the classroom and realised none of our classmates were there yet.
Checking my watch, there was still a good 5 minutes before the bell was going
to ring. The curtains of the classroom were drawn and the lights were switched
off, so it probably meant that the students using the classroom before us had
an early dismissal. Lucky people.
Twisting
the door handle and kicking the door open slightly, what greeted me wasn’t
something that every girl would be thrilled to see.
Boys, changing
for their P.E lesson.
Yet,
for some reason, I stood rooted to the ground, hand still stuck on the door
handle, staring straight at the boys who were in the midst of changing. They
stared right back, clearly amused.
And
suddenly, before I could even scream, everything around me turned pitch black.
And I felt another hand forcing mine to loosen the grip on the door handle. And
a few seconds later, and I heard the door shut close.
My back
was stuck fast against his chest, as he had pulled me back when I was in shock.
His chest heaved up and down, and my heart beat increased rapidly along with
it.
He
removed whatever he used to cover my eyes and the bright light temporarily
blinded me. Turning around, I saw his Apollo pullover slung across his
shoulders and his gentle yet sharp gaze directed towards the clear blue sky.
I
breathed in deeply, to keep the adrenaline rushing through my blood vessels in
check. Just then, I saw my classmates turn the corner.
God, I
hope my cheeks aren’t red.
“Why are your cheeks so red?” someone directed the most dreaded
question of the day towards me. I saw my classmates sneak a peek at the person
standing behind me, and then they looked back at me, with smirks on every
single one of their faces.
“Isn’t
it hot today? It’s gotta be Apollo in the atmosphere,”
